Blog Feature: Maternitique Reviews Momglish

We’ve met a lovely batch of new folks since the ABC show and will be sharing some new stores with you tomorrow, but we wanted to take a moment today to recognize Tara, at Maternitique in Portland, Oregon. As you might imagine, telling your own story over and over feels like old news pretty quick. Which is why it’s so refreshing when someone with an outside perspective takes the time to really get you and pass the word (or in this case, many words!) along.

Tara writes:
“Pregnancy is a beautiful experience, one that transforms us from the inside out, spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually. But that doesn’t mean we can’t laugh at it, too! Any journey that’s deeply transformative is inherently wrought with stress and discomfort. No one can experience personal growth without it involving some amount of pain. Pregnancy is no exception. Where the intimate changes of pregnancy intersect with social expectations of parenting and our own expectations of ourselves there can be sparks. Whether they’re humorous or not — well that’s up to you.

Based on my blog posts of pregnancy-related humor, you may have guessed that I like to laugh. Especially in life’s awkward moments, I laugh. (It’s the best medicine, or so the saying goes.) As much as I truly revere the miraculousness of pregnancy, birth and mothering, it’s no sacred cow.

The Momglish stationery from Egg2Cake finds the humor in the physical and social aspects of pregnancy and new motherhood. I hope that the lightness in this line of products empowers you and helps you in managing some of the stress of your own transformation. Here’s to laughing through the ups and downs of new motherhood together.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Thank you, Tara, for your kind and insightful words, and for doing your part to spread Momglish far and wide! You can read her lovely blog post in full here.
