Wedding Update: A Little Entourage Will Do

from Kate

If you are curious what the dining space looks like at Blackman Cruz — where we will be setting up the long tables — check out episode 81 of Entourage called Dramedy. It aired last night on HBO and a part of the episode was filmed at the store. Vince goes with Scott to an auction (Blackman Cruz) and ends up buying a dinosaur head. And Adam is in the episode (!) — he’s the cute guy, a.k.a. the auction employee, behind the counter.

Wedding Update: Picture Long Tables

from Kate

If a wedding is supposed to be fantastic — as in fantasy — then mine would be to see my loved ones seated at long tables dining on incredible cuisine by candlelight. And by incredible cuisine, I mean the freshest, local-est fare. I would love to physically transplant a farm-to-table dinner inside Blackman Cruz. So, that’s what we’ve decided to do. We will clear out all the furniture on the first floor — a large, open space that was once a nightclub dance floor — and replace it with as many long tables as will fit. The downside will be that we will have a firm cap on the number of people we can invite, but I’m told it’s better to have a reception on the small side so you can actually talk to your guests. Shouldn’t be too difficult, right?

Wedding Update: Snappin’ Queen

from Kate

Jamie and I have worked with the photographer, Leslie Barton, on many a project over the years. She can pretty much shoot anything, but a particular specialty happens to be wedding photography — a unique art unto itself. She was the only person I wanted to shoot our wedding… having been privy to the development of her book on the subject AND having enjoyed a close working relationship over the years. My brother and sister-in-law, who got married last year at an amazing celebration in Tahoe, shared that good photography equals good budget value because you’ll be looking at the pictures for years, and also to make sure you will like working with the person you pick because you’ll be spending a LOT of time with them! Thankfully, I know the perfect person to work with. She also happens to be free on our date. Phew! So excited to check another item off our very long list.

Wedding Update: Location, Location, Location

from Kate

There really was no debate. Since my fiancé’s antique and furniture store was once a (notorious) Los Angeles nightclub, it can handle a crowd — and we know it’s available. 10/10/10 is a popular date! 836 North Highland Avenue it is. Now we just need to figure out what we are doing with the rest of the details!

Engaging Opportunity

from Kate

Adam proposed and I accepted. I’ve always loved October weddings, so 10/10/10 it is! Best party date ever. Over the next few months, I’ll post our planning progress.
